NEW YORK — A fashionably late Cardi B made a grand entrance with a very grand dress on the 2024 Met Gala carpet.

The “Bodak Yellow” rapper waited until the carpet was clear before making her way up the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art to debut her epic look. She had to, given its size.

Going all out for the “Garden of Time” theme, the Grammy winner walked into fashion’s biggest night donning a voluminous black gown by Giambattista Valli that took up the entire courtyard. The “WAP” artist accessorized the jaw-dropping dress with a black turban covered in diamond and emerald jewelry.

The fashionista fully lived up to her goal of wanting her appearance at fashion’s biggest night to “be iconic.”

“We’re always thinking ahead,” Cardi told The Hollywood Reporter in March. “I feel like the Met Gala is almost like going to the Grammys. It’s very nerve-racking, and even though we make it look so easy, we really be so nervous.”

“We always try to make sure that everything goes right, that everything be iconic. We want everything to be iconic. I know people sometimes be like, ‘Oh, it’s not about who is there and who is not,’ but it’s like, no, you need to remember us forever.”

Cardi definitely delivered on that sentiment with the memorable moment leaving host Lala Anthony awestruck.

“Look at Cardi. She has hit the red carpet. Stunning! I just love this look. Everyone was waiting for her to arrive tonight and, wow,” Anthony gushed. “This is the way you shut down a Met Gala carpet, for sure.”
