Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion’s “Bongos” Video Feels Like A Risqué Fanta Commercial

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have brought back the nostalgic vibes of Fanta soda commercials with their new song and video “Bongos.”
As the colorful ’00’s advertisements would consist of four women wearing colors of the rainbow, they would often dance and sing on the beach as they held the pop in hand.
Now the “Up” and “Savage” rapstresses have channeled that same energy, but this time they’re joined by six other women wearing the colors of lime green, fuchsia, mint green, orange, blue and red. Cardi and Meg don the colors purple and yellow as they lead a dance ensemble.
The visually-appealing video, directed by Tanu Muino, sees Cardi rocking various colors of a festive headpiece and appearing in a colorful psychedelic jumpsuit, camouflaged with the entire room’s print. There are also cameos from Casamigos Tequila, Minute Maid Aguas Frescas, and Smart Sweets Peach Rings.
As Megan Thee Stallion makes her entrance into the visual, she joins a few dancers from a centered platform above a pool, before later getting close with Cardi on a sandy beach front.
Cardi raps, “I don’t care where you from/ Better beat this sh*t like a drum/ Don’t be talkin’ sh*t like you know me/ I ride d*ck like a pony, girl/ That ni**a look like a brokey/ Go and f**k with his homie,” before the Hot Girl Coach comes in with, “This a** sit like the stallion, all these wannabes my lil’ ponies/ These ho*s camped out in the comments, always talkin’ like they know me.”
The collaborators cap off the video posing on a metal structure, as they wear matching fiery red beach-wear. The two Grammy-winners give familiar “WAP” vibes as they cross legs with one another and seductively trade bars.
“Bongos” comes three years after the release of “W.A.P.” Both rhymers announced the new track on Monday (Sept. 4), and revealed that the single will be available in CD form, with two limited-edition cover arts.
Upon unveiling the latter for the single, Cardi B admitted to fans that the cover art wouldn’t be a reflection of what the song is about.
“Me and Megan, we tricked ya bi**hes,” she said while live on Instagram, Wednesday (Sept. 6). “These covers — we tricked you bi**hes. Wanna know how we tricked ya? This is not the theme of the song or the video. We want y’all to believe that it’s giving something that it’s not. You can not outwork me, bi**hes.”
However, it seems that Cardi B was trolling, as the cover art and video for “Bongos” are exactly a reflection of one another.
