Cara Delevingne’s L.A. Home Engulfed by Massive Fire That Caused Roof to Collapse: 'My Heart Is Broken'

The Los Angeles Fire Department is investigating what caused the blaze that took more than 2 hours to extinguish

Cara Delevingne’s home in Studio City, California, was consumed by flames early Friday morning, causing the roof to collapse.

According to information released by the Los Angeles Fire Department, firefighters arrived to find heavy fire in the rear of the 6,650-square-foot home.

The model and actress was photographed in London Thursday, where she’s been performing as Sally Bowles in Cabaret at the Playhouse Theatre. It’s unclear who was staying in the home in her absence, but the fire department confirmed an occupant sustained minor smoke inhalation,

A representative for Delevingne did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The star took to her Instagram Story on Friday afternoon to share her gratitude to those who responded to the emergency. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the firefighters and people that have showed up to help," she wrote.

She also shared a photo of two of her cats, that seemed to imply they may have been lost in the fire. "My heart is broken today. I cannot believe it. Life can change in a blink of an eye so cherish what you have," she captioned the photo along with a broken heart emoji. But later on Friday, she shared an update that her pets had been rescued. "They are alive!! Thank you to the firefighters," she wrote alongside another photo of the fluffy pair.

Delevingne also shared a video captured near the property showing several fire trucks and emergency response vehicles parked along the streets with red lights flashing.

The blaze consumed one room in the back of the house and “developed into a deep-seated attic fire,” the fire department said.

“Crews confirmed all occupants were out of the home, and then pulled back into defensive mode due to the long duration of heavy fire exposing the structural members,” the LAFD’s statement continued.

The roof of the house collapsed, as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames with hoses from the exterior.

It ended up taking 94 firefighters over two hours to put out the fire. One firefighter was transported from the home after falling from a ladder, the LAFD confirmed.

The fire department is investigating the cause of the blaze.

A neighbor told Fox’s Good Day LA that she heard what sounded like “exploding glass” coming from Delevingne’s property.

In 2021, Delevingne gave Architectural Digest  a tour of the eccentric and highly personalized home, which she called her "adult playhouse."

"The theme of this house, it's not Alice in Wonderland. Every room has a different theme," she explained in a video tour. "But I feel like the theme of this is definitely Mad Hatter's tea party. But there's jungle theme, there's Beverly Hills hotel, there's an old English style in here, but also, obviously, very typically LA."
