Shipping Captain Marvel, Thor and Valkyrie: Brie Larson and Chris Hemsworth debate the best couple

With more Avengers assembling than ever before in this month’s Avengers: Endgame, the amount of shipping possibilities is at an all-time high. (Shipping, if you’re not a Twitter or Tumblr regular, is when fans imagine fantasy romantic relationships between characters, typically manifested via fan art or fan fiction. Trust us, it’s a thing.)

Following her recent entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel has been involved the two most popular “ships” of late, paired with both Thor (Chris Hemsworth) after all that deep staring in the Endgame trailer, and Thor: Ragnarok breakout Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), whom Thompson has characterized as bisexual. The ships are buoyed by the fact that Carol Danvers didn’t have a love interest in Captain Marvel.

So when Larson and Hemsworth joined together (along with Don Cheadle) at the recent Los Angeles press day for Endgame, naturally we had to ask them to weigh in on all the matchmaking (watch above).

Hemsworth, for one, appeared to have no clue what we were talking about. “We’re shipping? We’re being shipped? Awesome,” Hemsworth said.

Larson, who joined Thompson in approving the Captain Marvel/Valkyrie pairing on Twitter, insisted she didn’t want to pick a preference, but her comments were telling.

“I’m truly not getting into that, but I do love the Valkyrie [pairing]. ... She just has a cool mode of transportation,” Larson said, referencing the Norse heroine’s winged horse, Aragorn, before apologizing to Hemsworth. “It’s nothing personal, she’s just got a sick ride.”
