Capitol Music Group announced yet another executive hire today, elevating Dennis Reese from SVP of promotion to head of promotion.

“Dennis is a passionate music executive who possesses an unmatched knowledge of the ever-changing landscape of radio, and his relationships and respect in that world are second to none,” said Capitol EVP Greg Thompson in a statement, going on to say that “he is a strong leader that enjoys the respect of our artists, as well as their managers, his staff and co-workers. On top of it all, Dennis is a trusted and loyal friend. He is an invaluable member of our team, and I congratulate him on this well-deserved promotion.”

Reese highlighted his friendship with Thompson and thanked label heads Lucian Grainge and Steve Barnett for “this opportunity to play a part in the rejuvenation of one of the most historic music labels ever. Greg Thompson and I have been together long enough to finish each other’s sentences. His friendship means the world to me, and I couldn’t think of doing this with or for anyone else.”

Prior to his work at Capitol, begun in 2004, Reese was SVP of promotion at Elektra between 2000 and 2004, and held the same position at Columbia Records, where he started in 1993, before exiting for Elektra. He’s worked with a diverse range of artists, from Fiona Apple to Ricky Martin.

This makes Reese the seventh executive hire by Capitol and its subsidiaries over the last month and change. Earlier this week elevation to SVP of sales at Capitol, Greg Thompson’s appointment as EVP of Capitol, and Todd von Mende taking the CFO seat at Capitol in late January.
