Canada Just Legalized Marijuana for All Canadians
Canada is blazin' it. Tuesday night, the Canadian federal government officially passed a bill legalizing recreational marijuana throughout the entire country. It is only the second nation in the world to legalize weed, after Uruguay.
Justin Trudeau made legalization a platform in his campaign, arguing that by allowing the government to regulate marijuana, it would be kept out of the hands of children. He tweeted his support Tuesday night:

Per the Cannabis Bill, as its known, adults over the age of 18 can carry up to 30 grams of cannabis on them in public, sharing it if they so please, CNN reports. It also allows families to grow up to four plants at home, with which they can make edibles. Legal weed must be purchased through government-regulated dispensaries, and it can't be sold alongside alcohol and tobacco.
Canada is also adjusting its driving laws to account for cannabis DUIs.
The law is expected to go into effect early or mid September to give provinces and territories time to draft their own laws to regulate it. That gives us just enough time to pack our bags and get ready for a (permanent?) trip up north.
