Can you see the light!? An epic gold medal finish with an equally epic broadcast

You might have seen Jessie Diggins’ incredible gold-medal finish on Wednesday night (morning in America) in the team ski sprint final, but did you hear what is definitely the greatest live broadcast call in Olympic history?

Chad Salmela and Steve Schlanger are the songbirds gracing us with their excitement of the klarbo-bakken. Schlanger provides the play-by-play, Salmela, well, let’s call it the volume.

When not screaming into microphones, Salmela is a former biathlete and NCAA varsity cross country ski team, and assistant track and field coach at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota.

Schlanger spends most of his time smoothly painting the play-by-play for a variety of sports on NBC and NBCSN, including hockey, basketball, cycling, speed skating, luge, figure skating and freestyle skiing.

“They’re all completely gassed, they’ve given it everything on the klarbo-bakken!”

“HERE COMES DIGGINS! HERE COMES DIGGINS!”

“YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!”

I wish I could this excited about anything, and I also wish I knew what a klarbo-bakken is.
