For years, celebrities, activists, elected officials, and others have been campaigning to remove 58-year-old Oklahoma prison inmate Richard Glossip from death row. Glossip claims he was wrongfully convicted of first-degree murder and soliciting his co-worker, Justin Sneed, to kill their then-boss, Oklahoma City motel owner Barry Van Treese in 1997. “Totally inadequate defense and no forensic evidence,” said activist and spiritual adviser Sister Helen Prejean regarding Glossip’s arrest and conviction in a 2015 interview with Dr. Phil. Actress and activist Susan Sarandon said, “The justice system is broken.” Watch more in the video above. Then, on Friday’s episode, Dr. Phil interviews Richard Glossip from death row and also discusses the case with his legal team. And later, Oklahoma State Representatives Kevin McDugle and Justin Humphrey and 2020 Oklahoma State Senate candidate Justin Jackson share why they support Richard Glossip’s fight for freedom.
