Cameron Diaz's Quarantine Life with Baby Girl Maddix Includes Cooking, Cleaning, & Lots of Wine

It’s a scary time to be a new mom — but you wouldn’t know that from talking to Cameron Diaz. Diaz and husband Benji Madden welcomed their daughter, baby girl Raddix, in January, and have been caring for their newborn as the coronavirus pandemic mounted and lockdowns went into effect around them. While Diaz points out that those first few months with a newborn are fairly isolated either way, there’s another reason the quarantine isn’t really getting to her — simply put, the new mom has never been happier.

The Charlie’s Angels star previously hasn’t shared much of her parenting life with the media, but an Instagram Live catch-up with pal Katherine Powers, founder and CEO of WhoWhatWear, revealed new details about her quarantine life with Raddix and Madden.

“I’ve kind of been living a quarantine life anyhow because I have a three-month-old, three-and-a-half month,” Diaz said. “So my life has been completely quiet and still for the last few months. But I was able to have my friends over all the time. And now I just don’t see anybody…I’m either cooking, cleaning or taking care of my baby — and usually all at the same time.”

It’s just Diaz, Madden, and Raddix at home, but Diaz isn’t complaining: “I love a bubble and being in the womb of my home with my husband and cooking. I love being a mother. It’s the best, best, best part of my life. I’m so grateful and so happy and it’s the best thing ever and I’m so lucky to do it with Benji and we’re having the best time. I’m thrilled. I can’t believe it.”

We’re so, so happy for Diaz — if not the tiniest bit suspicious. Who’s really this carefree with a newborn? According to Diaz, Madden has stepped up in a major way to make sure Diaz has time for herself too.

“After we do bath time with our baby and we put her to sleep, Benji puts her to bed,” she explained. “He’s so good. He’s such an amazing father…He puts her down and I go into the kitchen and I pour myself a nice glass of red wine. I start my cooking, I put on my show, whatever it is.”

“I drink [wine] every night,” she added. “It’s my wind down for the day.”
