Toy played several memorable supernatural creatures on the iconic series.

Camden Toy, the actor known for playing numerous supernatural creatures on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, died Monday after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 68.

His representatives confirmed the news in a press release.

The son of a makeup artist, Toy played several prosthetic-heavy characters on Buffy, including a pale-faced Gentleman in the silent episode "Hush," the demon Gnarl in "Same Time, Same Place," and a Turok-Han vampire in multiple season 7 episodes. He also appeared as a different vampire character, the Prince of Lies, on the Buffy spinoff Angel.

After his time in the Buffyverse, Toy had recurring roles on the series The Bay and Goodnight Burbank, and also appeared in episodes of The Mentalist, Shameless, and Into the Dark.

Doug Jones, Toy's best friend and a fellow creature character actor who starred in The Shape of Water, said in a statement, "To know Camden Toy was to Love Camden Toy. We may have met on the set of Buffy as two hideous looking 'Gentlemen' but that only sparked a dear friendship that would continue for twenty-four years. It's rare to find a man so joyful, smiley, smart, giggly, huggie, good at listening with his heart, and accessible always to anyone he knew, including his many fans. May he rest in God's peace."

Buffy costar Juliet Landau added, "Camden was a beautiful soul, a beautiful friend, and a beautiful talent… From the first moment we met, I knew he was special. Under the visage of the monster he was made-up to be, shined the kindest of spirits. He's been a gift in our lives. We will miss him greatly."

Toy is survived by his longtime partner, Bethany Henderson, as well as his mother and sister.
