Calvin Harris Gets Candid About His Split From Taylor Swift

Calvin Harris has regrets about the way his Taylor Swift breakup went down. The Scottish DJ addressed the split head on in a new interview with British GQ, admitting the media’s attention to the end of their relationship was tough.

“It’s very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly,” he told the mag. “The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicized than the relationship itself.” The 32-year-old insisted that they never wanted the extra attention. “When we were together, we were very careful for it not to be a media circus,” he explained. “She respected my feelings in that sense. I’m not good at being a celebrity.”

The split was amicable at first. Calvin even tweeted that he and Taylor still had a “huge amount of love and respect” for each other. But things turned sour in July when Calvin went off on his ex on Twitter after it was revealed that she wrote the lyrics to his summer smash hit, “This Is What You Came For.”

“I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do,” he wrote on the social media platform referencing Taylor and her then-beau Tom Hiddleston. Now, Calvin admits that he wishes he had never said anything negative about his ex gal pal.
