The Virginia Zoo will host an outdoor Jimmy Buffett tribute concert May 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. as part of its annual concert series, ZooGrooves.

The Tiki Bar Band and Mosaic Steel Orchestra will play Buffett’s greatest hits while visitors see their favorite animals, shop at a Margaritaville Market, indulge in island-themed food and drinks and take photos with boats provided by Lynnhaven Marine.

The concert is quite timely for Buffett fans, affectionately known as “Parrotheads,” as it takes place on World Parrot Day, the zoo said in a news release.

Guests should plan to arrive before 6:15 p.m. for a chance to meet several animal ambassadors, which may include parrot species like the green-winged macaw or eclectus parrot.

The zoo’s African Village Restaurant will serve a special-themed menu at a pop-up in the Event Pavilion including margaritas, piña coladas, “cheeseburgers in paradise” and more. Food trucks will also be on-site.

Tickets can be purchased online at virginiazoo.org/event/zoogrooves-7/. If tickets are still available on the day of the event, gate sales will be credit card only. The event will take place rain or shine.
