Calling all Fresno poets, writers to register for this literary event

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The deadline to register for Fresno’s premiere literary festival is approaching, and writers are being urged to register their proposals as soon as possible.

According to LitHop’s website, June 15 will be the last day to submit proposals. LitHop is an annual free literary festival that takes place in Fresno’s Tower District.

Fresno’s Lee Herrick appointed California’s Poet Laureate

LitHop will return for its seventh year and will take over several Tower District venues. The event will be on Oct. 12 and will be from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Organizers say LitHop was originally conceptualized by California Poet Laureate and Fresno Poet Laureate Emeritus Lee Herrick. LitHop began in 2016 as a fundraiser for the Fresno Arts Council.

The program serves as a platform for new and established writers in the valley as well as an expansion of literary arts and culture in Fresno, according to organizers.

“We welcome reading proposals from writers at any stage in their development or professional career who are eager to share their writing and stories,” LitHop’s Fresno Director Andrea Mele said.

Organizers say in its inaugural year, over a thousand community members attended one or more of the 39 events that featured over 140 writers from across the world.
