Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is about to drop. Here's what's new and improved in 2023

Calling all gamers: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will release soon across multiple platforms and some special surprises are in store.

MW3 2023 is a direct sequel to 2022's Modern Warfare 2 and sees Task Force 141 back in action. The squad will be working together to take down the villain Makarov. Players will travel around the world and play as different characters in a variety of settings, with new additions like remastered maps and a Zombies mode open-world experience.

According to the campaign trailer, "the war has changed." So, the question is, are you ready to go to war?

Will there be a Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3?

Yes! Preorders began last week and those who purchased early will receive a few extra perks.

All digital preorders come with in-game bonuses like the Soap Operator DLC pack that comes with two character skins and a weapon blueprint.

PlayStation preorders will get exclusives like the Lockpick Operator and the American Gothic SMG and Starry Knife.

What time is Call of Duty MW3 coming out?

The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will release on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC on Friday, Nov. 10.

  • U.S. West Coast: Console and PC, 9 p.m. Pacific Time Nov. 9.

  • U.S. East Coast: Console and PC, midnight Eastern Time Nov. 10.

How much will MW3 cost?

The cost of Modern Warfare 3 depends on which edition you choose.

The Vault Edition costs $99.99 and comes with the game and special features like early access to the campaign (if you preorder), Zombie Ghost Operator skin, Soul Harvester Tracer Weapon Blueprint, Nemesis Operator Pack, two Weapon Vaults and one season of BlackCell with 30 addition tier skips.

The Cross-Gen/Standard Edition costs $69.99 and includes the game, early access to the campaign if you preorder and the Zombie Ghost Operator skin.

What's new about Modern Warfare 3?

According to game developer Activision, MW3 will give players more choices than ever with operations that range from signature, cinematic experiences to free-form Open Combat Missions.

That's not all, though. There will be more open areas to complete missions with various tactics; the 16 launch maps are remastered versions from 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that will have new gameplay features and game modes.

What else is new about MW3 for 2023:

  • Return of the minimap and classic perk system.

  • Over 30 weapons with unique mastery camos to unlock.

  • Gunsmith customization feature.

  • New aftermarket parts for greater customization.

  • New Warzone map Urzikstan, an urban-type battlefield featuring 11 major points of interest.

  • Zombies Mode will be an open-world experience with survival elements and PvE extraction.

  • Weapons, operators, camos and more from MW2 will transfer over to the new game.
