Even Indiana Jones gets a scare out of a plastic spider every now and then!

Calista Flockhart has revealed that she and husband Harrison Ford play practical jokes, which involves the actors hiding behind corners of their home and even using fake bugs to spook each other.

Speaking with The New York Times, the 59-year-old Ally McBeal alum referred to herself as the "Scare Monster" at home.

"Because I hide behind every corner,” she explained. “And so Harrison will walk in, and then I’ll go, ‘Raaah!’ And he’ll go, ‘W-uy-aah!’ And then I die laughing."

"I’ll put a plastic spider inside his big ice cubes in the tray, and then he’ll drink it," Flockhart added of her scare tactics. "But then I’ll go to bed two weeks later, and he’s out of town in Jackson, and I’ll take the covers down and there’s this little rubber scorpion. It’s fun.”

Flockhart also shared that she and Ford, 81, are "very independent of each other in some ways," and "probably incredibly codependent on each other in others." She told The New York Times that she was “really content being home” as a mother and they "weren’t competing with each other," citing that as one of the reasons their marriage has worked.

Flockhart is the mother of 22-year-old Liam Flockhart Ford, whom she adopted a year before meeting the actor.

“It scares him, I think, sometimes,” she said of her independence. “When I first met him, he said, ‘You are the most self-sufficient woman in the world, and I don’t know how I feel about that.’ I remember I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ Because I didn’t recognize I was self-sufficient.”

“The other reason it works is, we’re both pretty introverted," she added of her marriage. "We stay home a lot, homebodies, which is nice.”

Ford and Flockhart married in 2010, eight years after meeting at the 59th Golden Globe Awards in 2002. Earlier this week, she spoke on Live with Kelly and Mark about how she brings out a softer side of her husband, who thanked her for her support during a speech at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards earlier this month.

"Dare I say you bring out the soft, puppy-dog side of Harrison Ford that we mortals might not necessarily know is there," Kelly Ripa said.

"He's afraid of me," Flockhart joked in response. "I'm just saying."

"It’s an emotional thing," she added of Ford's latest honor, a career achievement award. "You know, his body of work is so incredible and it’s so well-deserved. So yeah, I feel very proud of him and happy for him."
