University of California baseball pitcher Jared Horn has been released from the hospital after a devastating car crash in San Pablo killed four of his family members.

Horn was at the wheel Saturday night when a man suspected of felony DUI hit his car, causing it to go over the center divide on the highway and flip. Horn’s 50-year-old father and 14-year-old brother died in the crash. Horn’s 12-year-old cousin and his father also died.

Horn was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but was released and is currently at home.

The man thought to be responsible for the crash, 47-year-old Fred Lowe, was arrested by police, according to the East Bay Times. He’s facing charges of “suspicion of felony DUI, felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.”

Cal coach Mike Neu said the team and the entire Bears community is behind Horn “as he goes through this unthinkably difficult time.”

“We cannot imagine what Jared is going through right now, and the thoughts and prayers of our entire Cal baseball community are with Jared and his family as they go through this time,” Bears coach Mike Neu said in a statement. “Jared is a respected and beloved member of our team. … and we will give him any and all support that we can, as he goes through this unthinkably difficult time.”

The 19-year-old Horn spent his freshman year as a pitcher on the Cal Bears baseball team. He appeared in 16 games with the club, tossing 77 2/3 innings.
