Caitlyn Jenner says she supports the border wall and would eliminate California’s sanctuary law

Caitlyn Jenner appeared on Hannity Wednesday night where she made her case to be the next governor of California. Jenner announced late last month that she plans to run for governor in the upcoming recall election. While much of the interview lacked specifics, Jenner made clear where she stands on immigration, and former President Donald Trump’s border wall.

Asked if she would continue building the border wall, Jenner replied, “I am all for the wall. I would secure the wall. We can’t have a state, we can’t have a country without a secure wall.” She later added, “What do we do with the people that are here? We are a compassionate country, okay? We are a compassionate state. Some help — I mean, some people, we’re going to send back, okay? No question about that.”

Though Jenner also expressed interest in eliminating California's sanctuary status, the law has already held up against multiple challenges on the federal level. The Supreme Court declined to even hear a challenge brought by the Trump administration last year.

When Sean Hannity asked if she’d eliminate the sanctuary status of the state, Jenner responded, “I would do my absolute best to do that. It's not going to be easy. But I would do my absolute best. I am for securing this state. I am pro-law enforcement. I am pro-border protection, okay? I.C.E., pro-I.C.E. We need these people, and they do a wonderful job.”

KYLIE MAR: Following the announcement late last month that she plans to run for governor of California in the upcoming recall election, Caitlyn Jenner appeared on "Hannity" Wednesday, where she showed support for former President Donald Trump's border wall. Jenner also said she'd work to eliminate California's sanctuary law, despite the law being upheld by the Supreme Court last year.

SEAN HANNITY: Would you eliminate all of the sanctuary status that currently exist in this state?

CAITLYN JENNER: I would do my absolute best to do that. It's not going to be easy. I am pro-law enforcement. I'm pro-border protection, OK, ICE, pro-ICE.

KYLIE MAR: Jenner also spoke about deporting undocumented immigrants. Though a law passed in San Diego County just a day earlier could make that more difficult.

CAITLYN JENNER: What do we do with the people that are here? We are a compassionate country, OK. We are a compassionate state. I mean, some people, we're going to send back, OK, no question about that.

KYLIE MAR: But Jenner also said she would do everything she could to help a longtime acquaintance, who is in the country illegally, gain permanent status.

CAITLYN JENNER: He is the nicest, greatest guy. He would make-- I mean, I would do everything for him to stay here. And so you have to deal with it. We have to modernize. We have not modernized our immigration system in the United States.
