A remodeled Cafe Benelux is opening April 3 after it was closed for a month to undergo interior updates.

According to a news release, some new additions include an expanded wrap-around bar with marble countertop that will double the bar seating in the dining room, plus additional booths. The remodel also included updates in the kitchen.

“Our intent was to create a more spacious and tremendously improved bar experience," Lowlands Group owner and CEO Eric Wagner said in the release. "We’re thrilled with the result and can’t wait to unveil the new space to the neighborhood and city,”

During the closure, Lowlands Group, which owns Cafe Benelux, 346 N. Broadway, updated both food and cocktail menus. Staff went through training to learn more about the cafe's offering from importers, distributors, brewers, distillers and other local partners.

The cafe, which features food and drink from the Netherlands and Belgium, has added exclusive tap lines for imported Belgium beer, including Duvel, which will be the first time it's on tap in Wisconsin, and a four-tap Chimay tower, one of just four in the U.S.

The Third Ward restaurant will open at 8 a.m. April 3. Its hours will continue as normal, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, with brunch Saturdays and Sundays.
