Caelynn Miller-Keyes and Dean Unglert Put an Offer on Aspen Home: ‘We’re Not Gonna Raise Our Kids in Vegas’

'I grew up there, and it's a bubble in a good way," the 'Bachelor in Paradise' alum explained on his podcast

Caelyn Miller-Keyes and Dean Unglert know where they want to raise their family.

On Monday’s episode of the couple’s podcast with Jared Haibon, Help! We Suck at Being Newlyweds, the Bachelor in Paradise alumni revealed that they put an offer on a new construction house near Aspen, Colo. during their “mini moon.”

“One of my favorite things about the wedding is the aftermath,” Unglert explains towards the end of the episode. He continues saying the pair was in Aspen having a “mini moon," relaxing in their hotel, and enjoying the blissful surroundings.

He continues, saying that he thinks Aspen is “the best place in the world” and noting how Miller-Keyes saw that “this place is what it’s hyped up to be” during their wedding weekend.

Haibon jumps in with a question: “Did you buy a house in Aspen?”

Miller-Keyes reveals that they “put in an offer,” explaining they had extended their mini moon by a day in order to tour two houses around the celeb-favorite mountain town.

Unglert goes on to say that the two had “submitted an offer” on a new construction build and were “pre-approved for a loan,” before the Bachelor in Paradise alum admitted, “we did undershoot. Low-balled the offer a little bit.”

Miller-Keyes chimes in to clarify that “all of the houses [in the neighborhood] are at a certain price, and ours was way above,” before saying that the homeowner isn’t too keen on negotiating with the couple.

“He won’t counteroffer with us,” she tells her co-hosts. “He’s just like, ‘Well, what’s your number,’ and I’m like, 'We gave you our number!’ ‘Well, what’s your highest?' 'That is our highest.”'

Miller-Keyes explains that the house is “perfect for kids,” saying, “we wouldn’t have to move again,” noting the size of the four-bedroom, six-bathroom house.

Unglert agrees, “We would buy this house cause we’re not gonna raise our kids in Vegas.” Later explaining, “I grew up [in Aspen], and it’s a bubble in a good way.”

“You’re kind of cut off from the rest of the world that you’re not worried so much about crime. You’re not worried so much about all of these geo-political things going on,” he explains. “Of course, you still care about them, but they don’t affect you so much on a day to day basis, and so to give our kids the same luxury of growing up in a town like that would be so awesome.”

After all the discussions about the house, Unglert says he thinks, “We’re probably not going to get this house. Of course, we want it really bad, but I don’t think we should put all our eggs in one basket.”

“If we don’t get this one, we’ll just continue to look for something else that might be suitable for us,” he says. “Now, that I’m 32 and married, all I want to do is get back to that quiet little town and start a life.”

The Bachelor in Paradise stars tied the knot on Sept. 23 at Beyul Retreat in Meredith, Colo. outside of Aspen.

The couple's "Camp Bell" wedding theme was a sentimental nod to Miller-Keyes' longtime love for summer camp and Unglert's late mother Debbie Bell, who died from breast cancer when he was a teenager. The pair plans to change their last name to Bell in her honor.
