C.J. Beckford, Maisie Richardson-Sellers to Lead Social Impact Feature ‘Run’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Rising British talents C.J Beckford (“Riches,” Steve McQueen’s upcoming “Blitz”) and Maisie Richardson-Sellers (“The Originals,” “DC’s Legend of Tomorrow”) are set to appear in the feature “Run.”

The film, from director Bernard Kordieh and Rashomon Films, was shot in 2022 under COVID-19 restrictions and is, per the description, a “social impact feature film designed to start a conversation about mental health and strip away the stigma surrounding the issue.”

“As filmmakers, finding one’s creative voice is a difficult and sometimes isolating process, and the dynamics of personal relationships can either aid or hinder this journey,” Kordieh said in a statement. “‘Run’ explores the complex relationship between mental health and creativity, as our protagonist grapples with the pressure to produce great work and the emotional toll it takes on him. It also explores the complexities of relationships with no true ‘villains’ in a break-up that seeks to create a story that balances raw authenticity with magic realism on a deep and emotional level.”

Added “Run” producer Amir Rashidian: “The subject hit home not just for Bernard and I, but for the cast and crew who have had either loved ones or have themselves suffered from mental health issues. This connection, despite financial and time constraints, drove us to create the most poignant film possible.”

Kordieh is currently developing a slate of projects with Rashomon Films, all of which are set to explore the human condition.

“Run” is set to premiere in the build up to the U.K.’s Mental Health Awareness Week in May, with an online release to follow soon after.
