Byron Young will be 1st player to wear No. 0 with Rams

Byron Young is already making a statement in his first week as a member of the Los Angeles Rams.

The team announced jersey numbers for the 14 rookies from the 2023 draft class and Young went with a unique choice: No. 0.

The NFL made a rule change this offseason to allow players to wear No. 0, a proposal submitted by the Eagles and approved by NFL owners. So Young is taking the opportunity to wear it, becoming the first player in Rams history to do so.

Steve Bagarus previously wore No. 00 with the Rams way back in 1947, but that’s not the same as a single zero. That’s never been worn by a Rams player. Young is trying to make it his own in his first year in the NFL.

He previously wore No. 6 in college, but that will be worn by Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson and was previously worn by Derion Kendrick. It remains to be seen which number Kendrick will now switch to.
