BuzzFeed Motion Pictures Teams With Keshet International for Game Show

BuzzFeed Motion Pictures is getting into business with media giant Keshet International. The two are teaming up to create a new “transmedia” version of Keshet’s game show “Touch,” geared toward audiences that no longer view their mobile devices as second screens.

“Touch” has two components, a linear show and a mobile game. The concept of both is simple: players are shown some sort of visual and are asked to point out errors that they see — i.e. an object in a photo that really shouldn’t be there.

The Israeli version of “Touch,” created by Ido Rosenblum and Keshet, allows people at home to play against the TV contestants on their phones or tablets, but anyone can play the mobile game on their own at any time. The same idea is behind the format being developed with BuzzFeed.

“BuzzFeed has been at the forefront of creating culturally defining and buzzworthy original online content,” said Sebastian Burkhardt, SVP of digital and acquisitions at Keshet International. “Working jointly with such a prolific and extraordinary partner, I believe we are well positioned to develop a next-generation game show.

BuzzFeed Motion Pictures and Keshet Studios will develop the project jointly, with Keshet International handling the distribution internationally. BuzzFeed is aggressively stepping up its video production, creating BuzzFeed Motion Pictures in 2014 to translate the wildly popular BuzzFeed aesthetic into more long-form video content.

Keshet, meanwhile, is the studio behind Israeli hits that translate well into markets like the U.S. — most notably, “Prisoners of War,” the Gideon Raff drama that served as the basis for Showtime’s “Homeland.”
