Ticket To Ride
On sale for $40 (was $55), Ticket To Ride is popular among adults, but it’s also suitable for children over eight years old. Designed for two to five players, the object of the game is to build train routes across North America while you connect cities and earn points. Whoever builds the most routes wins the game. There’s competition to ensure others don’t build routes around you—overall, it’s a great strategy game.
"Hours of fun! Recommended! I bought this game to introduce my parents and younger nephews to board games and to summarize the experience, it was a huge success," reported a delighted gamer. "...As this is a beginner strategy game, I would not recommend this game for seasoned strategists, but rather for folks who are just getting into strategy games..."
This version is Alexa-enabled, so you can use the voice assistant to 'guide' you through the game. It doesn’t require an Echo Dot to play it, but it might juice up the action.
Just Dance 2021 (Nintendo Switch)
Amazon is offering Just Dance 2021 for Nintendo Switch as part of its 'Get three for the price of two' sale, and it's also 40 percent off!
Just Dance 2021 comes with 40 songs to get you moving—including “Rain on Me” by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, “Adore You” by Harry Styles and “Don't Start Now” by Dua Lipa. The game is designed for up to six players—quarantine fun for the whole family.
“I have all the Just Dance games—and granted, I'm going a bit nutty with all this staying at home during the pandemic, but this game may be my favorite,” shared a stay-at-home dancer. “The songs are a great mix of genres, and the choreography has enough familiar moves to make the game comfortable to jump into, but it also has some new moves that I don't think I've seen in the other Just Dance games. And the backgrounds—wow—they are amazing. It's crazy to think how far the game has come over the years. Five stars for sure!”
7 Wonders
There are many different ways to win 7 Wonders, which is why it's so popular. The object is to go head-to-head as you try to build a new civilization with dazzling architectural 'wonders,' while crushing your opponent through scientific, civilian or military supremacy. Shoppers are really digging it.
"Everything is durable and vibrant which gives the game a very nice feel," shared a satisfied Amazon shopper. "If you're a fan of Settlers of Catan and other turn-based strategy games but don't want to necessarily spend hours playing, you'll enjoy this game...It's very fun, with many combinations of potential outcomes."
Overcooked! All You Can Eat (PS5)
On sale for $40 (was $50), Overcooked! All You Can Eat for Sony PlayStation 5 is a co-op cooking game that lets you work together with up to four other chefs (players) to prepare, cook and serve meals before customers storm the kitchen. It's a fun strategy game for the whole family, especially that it's in glorious 4K!
Sequence: The Game (Deluxe Edition)
Sequence: The Game is designed for up to 12 players aged 7 and up, so everyone in the family can have a good time. Here’s how to play: Players are dealt six cards, which correspond to the game board. All you have to do is place a chip on your board from your hand for each turn.
Once you get five in a row, that’s a 'sequence.' However, other players can strategically block you from getting to five in a row, so you must avoid and set your own 'traps' to win.
"Endless fun. I taught friends and family to play and now we cannot stop! After a few times they got hooked and even bought their own. A great strategy game," said a five-star reviewer.
Codenames: Duet
Codenames: Duet is meant to be played hard and fast—think 15 to 20 minutes at a pop. The object of the game is to give one-word clues to your partner, while you both try to discover who are the 'secret agents' on your team from a 25-card grid. If you reveal too many innocent bystanders or the assassin, you lose. There are different outcomes each time!
"My wife doesn't like board games. I do. I knew if I wanted to share my passion, it would need to be a cooperative game, easy to explain and play, and fun. This fits the bill perfectly," shared an Amazon reviewer. "We now pull this out at least every other week to spend some quality time together doing something besides watching TV."
