Steve Anderson, chief executive officer at The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus, will step away from his work in health care beginning June 1 to start a new private venture in Salt Lake City. “Steve Anderson has been an outstanding leader during his nearly 4-year tenure at the St. Francis Campus,” said Matt Maxfield, president of the Americas region with Ardent Health Services. “He has led the transition of ownership to The University of Kansas Health System and Ardent and built patient and community confidence in the hospital and clinic’s services while maintaining outstanding quality and service for every patient.” Under Anderson’s leadership, the St. Francis Campus expanded its presence with the acquisition of Tallgrass Ambulatory Surgery Center and in primary care through the development of three urgent care centers. He led the successful affiliation of the cancer center with The University of Kansas Cancer Center and expanded local cancer services with the latest in technology and the recruitment of several new physicians. A national search for a new CEO is underway.
