Imagination Worldwide has acquired foreign rights to Matthew McDuffie's drama Burning Bodhi, starring Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) and Sasha Pieterse (Pretty Little Liars).
Burning Bodhi centers around lifelong friends who stumble back home after word gets out on Facebook that the most popular among them has died. The reunion stirs up sticky feelings of love, longing, regret - and the novelty of forgiveness, mortality and gratitude. The film is written and directed by McDuffie and produced by Marshall Bear. Other castmembers include Virginia Madsen, Cody Horn and Landon Liboiron.
"'Burning Bodhi is a slow burn, character-driven meditation on life, lost love and missed opportunities. I was blown away by Kaley Cuoco's performance. She is well known for her comedic chops, but is a stellar dramatic actress as well. This film showcases her range beautifully," said Michelle Mower, CEO of Imagination Worldwide (IWW).
IWW is an international film sales and distribution company based in Los Angeles since 2003. Recently acquired by Mower, the company is focused on developing, producing and distributing motion pictures that are visually engaging and targeted towards women - thereby bringing more gender parity to the industry. They will release Amber Tamblyn's feature directorial debut Paint it Black in May.
