Bulls reportedly hiring Sixers' Marc Eversley as new GM
The Chicago Bulls are continuing their front office makeover under VP of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, they’ve reportedly hired Marc Eversley to be the team’s new general manager. He’ll be the first black GM in Bulls history.
Eversley comes from the Philadelphia 76ers, where he’s been the vice president of player personnel since 2016. He’s also served as the VP of scouting for the Washington Wizards and worked under former Sixers executive Brian Colangelo with the Toronto Raptors. Eversley had been working for Nike before Colangelo hired him away, giving him his first job in the NBA.
Eversley brings a lot of recent success. While the Bulls haven’t made the playoffs since trading Jimmy Butler in 2017, the Sixers have been on the rise. Eversley was part of the front office that brought Butler, Tobias Harris, and JJ Redick to the Sixers during the 2018-2019 season, dynamite acquisitions that helped the Sixers soar to new heights.
According to Wojnarowski, Eversley will work alongside Karnisovas in the newly restructured basketball operations department. Eversley is Karnisovas’ third front office hire since Karnisovas was named VP of basketball operations just a month ago, and things have changed dramatically. Longtime executives like John Paxson and Gar Forman were either fired or shuttled to new positions, and head coach Jim Boylen, who’s struggled a times, will be on the hot seat as the remade front office tries to remake a Bulls team with a lot of unrealized potential.
