Buffalo Bills Star Linebacker Von Miller Accused of Assaulting Pregnant Woman

A warrant for Miller's arrest citing assault of a pregnant person was issued, and the investigation remains ongoing, Dallas police confirmed to PEOPLE

Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller is facing arrest for an alleged domestic violence incident, according to authorities.

Police responded to a "major disturbance call" in the 3100 block of North Harwood in Dallas on Wednesday morning at approximately 11 a.m. local time, the Dallas Police Department (DPD) confirmed to PEOPLE on Thursday.

"The preliminary investigation determined the suspect, 34-year-old Vonnie Miller, and the victim got into a verbal argument and the suspect assaulted the victim," a representative for the DPD explained.

The NFL star allegedly left the scene before officers arrived at his home in Dallas. The woman, who authorities did not name, was "treated for minor injuries" at the scene, but "was not transported to a hospital," according to police.

Miller was born and raised in DeSoto, a nearby suburb.

In a statement issued to PEOPLE, a representative for the Buffalo Bills addressed the allegations against Miller.

“This morning, we were made aware of an incident involving Von Miller. We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this point," the Bills' statement said.

According to CBS reporter Jonathon Jones, a statement from the NFL read, "We are aware of the matter and have been in contact with the club. We have no further comment at this time."

In 2021, Miller was investigated by Colorado police following an alleged dispute with ex-girlfriend Megan Denise. Miller and Denise share two boys: Victory and Valor.

"The case is currently under investigation, and no information can be released at this time," the Parker Police Department said in a statement to PEOPLE at the time. "If the investigation determines a crime has occurred, charges will be submitted to the DA's Office for their review."

Miller denied wrongdoings and Denise issued a statement on social media shortly after, according to. the New York Post.

Denise's statement began, “In light of recent media reports regarding my relationship with Von, I feel that I need to address a couple of things. First and foremost, at no point in our relationship was there any type of physical abuse or violence by Von, whatsoever."

"For anyone to say otherwise, or to speculate such, is wrong," she continued. “With regards to my social media posts, a part was misconstrued and taken out of context. I do regret making a private situation public, and in doing so, bringing unwanted attention to both Von and myself. Von and I are excited to be welcoming our baby into the world, and are committed to raising our child with love and compassion, together as a family.”
