BTS' V Updates His Romantic, Slow-Jam 'Slow Dancing' with Two Remixes and a Behind-the-Scenes Music Video

The K-pop star released his debut solo album 'Layo(v)er' in September

BTS’ V may be singing about “Slow Dancing” on one of his solo singles, but he’s speeding things up.

On Monday, the K-pop idol, 27, released two remixes of “Slow Dancing,” the focus track of his debut solo album Layo(v)er. The singer also shared the music video for one of the new versions of his hit.

One of the remixes of the ‘70s-soul-inspired love song was done by FRNK, a producer and member of the Korean hip-hop duo XXX. The recording artist updates the track by turning up the speed and lowering V’s voice, transforming it into a club-ready dance song that sounds resonant of Afrobeat rhythms.

FRNK’s reworking arrived along with its music video, which features behind-the-scenes footage of the BTS star (whose real name is Kim Taehyung) on the set of the official “Slow Dancing” video. The hypnotic visual is interspersed with psychedelic, vintage animation and shows the singer practicing choreography and relaxing in between takes.

Meanwhile, the other remix is executed by soul star Cautious Clay and elevates the romantic qualities of the song, turning it into even more of an R&B-inspired slow jam. On his new release, the singer/producer (whose real name is Joshua Karpeh), 30, adds even more of the joyous-sounding flute, which only plays on the outro of the original, and employs new keys and drums on the track.

“Slow Dancing” appears on the BTS member’s debut solo album Layo(v)er, which arrived on Big Hit Music the same day that the song dropped as a single on Sept. 8. The song has been called the “focus track” of the six-song collection, which also includes a piano version of it, singles “Rainy Day” and “Love Me Again,” and the songs “Blue” and “For Us.”

Upon its debut, “Slow Dancing” reached No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100.

When V’s Layo(v)er dropped, the performer shared a statement about the project in a press release. “Since I’m the last one to release a solo album among BTS members, I am nervous, but I’ll show everyone what I’ve been working on one layer at a time,” he shared.

The star continued, “Layover is an album that captures the essence of who Kim Taehyung is as a person. It’s fresh, surprising, and relaxing.”

In 2022, members of BTS RM, Jungkook, Jin, J-Hope, V, Jimin and Suga announced they were taking a temporary hiatus. Their agency HYBE later clarified that the group was taking time to “express their individuality through the release of solo albums and collaborations with other artists."

Big Hit Music, HYBE's parent company, added, "Members will take this time to achieve personal growth through various new activities, and we expect it to further strengthen the foundation for the group's long-run as a team.”

The “Butter” group’s label also revealed in October 2022 that all seven members are scheduled to carry out their mandatory military duties before their planned 2025 reunion.

In the meantime, a highly anticipated concert film, BTS: Yet to Come, will release on Nov. 19 on Amazon Prime Video. The film includes performances of some of their most iconic songs and captures the theatrics of one of their biggest concerts in Bustan in October of last year.
