SHINee’s Taemin is preparing for the release of his 4th Mini Album Guilty. The company unveiled the album design on October 22, 2023. While Shawols were excited for Taemin’s album, BTS fans, also known as ARMYs, were disappointed. They noticed stark similarities between Taemin’s album design and the one by BTS member V‘s Layover album.

BTS singer V unveiled his album, Layover’s design on September 8, 2023. The concept behind the album was a mailbox version that the artist personally delivered to fans’ doorsteps. This indicated that he was delivering his first solo album after much wait. ARMYs were clearly disappointed at Taemin’s Guilty album design as they felt it strongly resembled that of V’s.

Taemin’s new album design is copied from V’s Layover, claim fans

As soon as Taemin’s new album design was released, many BTS fans took to the comments section of the official X (formerly Twitter) post to slam S.M. Entertainment for the album design resembling that of V’s Layover. Both album designs, as fans pointed out, resembled similar sensibilities, which can be observed in a variety of elements.

The brown carboard box, the polaroid pictures, and even a track of a similar name, Blue, were all notable commonalities between both albums, as pointed out by ARMYs. They also joked that the only element missing from Taemin’s album was a dog, indicating V’s beloved pet Yeontan, who has been a major element in Layover release and promotions.

Fans took to the comment section to slam Taemin’s Guilty album, accusing it of resembling V’s Layover. Check out what they have to say.

ARYMs also pointed out specific similarities between Guilty and Layover, including the song Blue, and Taemin’s album just missing the dog like the one in Layover. Check it out.

Fans even chose to shade Taemin’s Guilty album just because of the similarities to V’s Layover. @mochalattae_123 said, “No wonder the title of the album is Guilty.” Another user named @armysbestfandom said, “Inspired by? Don’t be shy say his name.” @taechwita said, “Originality left the chat.” Many fans also shared V’s clips or memes shading the Guilty album.

BTS member V releases Layover song ‘Slow Dancing’ remixes
