BTS Member Jungkook Investigated By Seoul Police Over Traffic Accident

Police on Monday said they have opened up an investigation of the K-pop superstar Jungkook over a traffic accident that caused minor injuries to him and a taxi driver.

Jungkook is a member of the extremely popular boy band, BTS and his entertainment agency, Big Hit Entertainment, admitted that he cause the accident by violating traffic laws and they have already settled the dispute with the driver, according to Fox News."We apologize again to the victim and also to fans for causing concern," the agency said in a statement.

Seoul police said Jungkook was booked and an investigation was started due to the traffic laws in the city.A police officer noted that the case was minor and that the accident did not cause much harm to the involved parties or cause a lot of property damage, Fox News reports. The officer also made it clear that the accident was not caused by drinking and driving or anything that serious.

The media in South Korea reported that Jungkook and the other driver suffered bruises in Saturday's crash. Authorities told the Segye Ilbo newspaper that Jungkook violated unspecified traffic rules while he was driving his Mercedes Benz. His vehicle collided with the taxi on a Seoul street. Yonhap news agency reported that authorities plan to summon the singer soon.

BTS is a huge boy band that has worked with artists like Nicki Minaj, Steve Aoki, Khalid and more. The superstar group also performed on this year's season finale of "The Voice."

They have a huge international following and were the first K-pop act to debut on the Billboard Album chart last year with their hit song, "Love Yourself: Tear."The band appeared as the musical guest of the scetch comedy program, "Saturday Night Live." Their appearance made history because they were the first South Korean act to perform on the show.

Despite the recent investigation into Jungkook, BTS is having a pretty good week. The K-pop group took home multiple awards Sunday night at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Seville, Spain. They beat out Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Travis Scott, and P!nk for "Best Live Act" and were also received an award for "Biggest Fans."

The group was also up for the "Best Collaboration" award for their song with Halsey, "Boy With Luv." They ended up losing to the song "Con Altura" by Rosalia and J Balvin featuring El Guincho.
