BTS fans won’t have to wait much longer to see Jin back in action. The singer, and oldest member of BTS, shared a new video celebrating the New Year and teasing his return to music as he finishes his mandatory military service in Korea.

“It’s January, everyone. The new year has come. I will become a year older in January,” he said in Korean in the previously recorded video. “I’ll be in my mid-30s by now. Did you all make a snowman? I’m still in the past so I don’t know if it’s snowing or not but if it snowed you have to make a snowman and go back to being kids and do snowball fights.”

“I’m leaving this video so you can watch my pretty, handsome face and spend January and February warmly. I miss you all. I miss you a lot,” he added. “Wait just a bit more and you’ll be able to see me with short hair. I’ll grow my hair quickly this year and I’ll be able to start working hard soon.”

Jin asked fans to “wait a few more months” since there’s only a short time left until his enlistment service ends. He teased he’d be back “in February and March.”

The singer was the first member of BTS — comprising Jung Kook, V, Jimin, Suga, RM, and J-Hope — to enlist in the military. J-Hope and Suga enlisted in early 2023, while V began his mandatory service in December. Before his departure, V shared a message with fans saying he’ll “miss [them] so much” while he’s away.

RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook were the only BTS members who had yet to begin their mandatory military service obligations. “Thank you to the fans who always love BTS. We would like to provide follow-up information regarding the military enlistment of RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook,” BigHit Music shared in a statement via Weverse last month. “RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook are enlisting as active-duty soldiers in the Army to fulfill their military service obligations.”

BTS announced they would go on hiatus in 2022 so all seven members could complete their miliatry service requirements. The group is expected to reconvene in 2025.
