BTS' book is a best-seller 1 day after release: 'Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS'

BTS has a new gig to add to its group resume: Best-selling authors.

The K-pop group released its first book Sunday called "Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS" that they wrote with Myeongseok Kang, Weverse Magazine editor in chief. By Monday, their debut book topped the Amazon Best Sellers list, sitting comfortably in the list's number one slot.

The group, made up of members Suga, Jung Kook, V, Jimin, RM, Jin and J-hope, didn't just top Amazon's general best sellers list. "Beyond the Story" also topped Amazon's Best Sellers in Memoirs and its Best Sellers in Rock Band Biographies lists.

The book, which comes as BTS celebrates 10 years, took three years of research and more than two years of interviews to write, according to a release. It's split into seven chapters that tell BTS' story chronologically.

The chapters include: “SEOUL,” “WHY WE EXIST,” “LOVE, HATE, ARMY,” “INSIDE OUT,” “A FLIGHT THAT NEVER LANDS,” “THE WORLD OF BTS” and “WE ARE," according to the release.

"Beyond the Story" has been published in 23 languages including English and Korean.

BTS members focusing on solo projects

BTS said last year that the group is taking a break — but the mega-star K-pop group is making it clear that they're not breaking up.

"We're going into a hiatus now," Suga said in a more than hour-long video on YouTube and translated from Korean with English subtitles.

A statement from Hybe, the South Korean entertainment company behind BTS, said they’ll still be working on projects as a group, as well as individually. “BTS are not taking a hiatus. Members will be focusing more on solo projects at this time,” the statement said.

What BTS members have been up to recently

And meanwhile, BTS members remain busy:

  • Suga has been on tour.

  • J-hope performed at Lollapalooza, where he was the first South Korean act to headline and has a documentary dubbed "j-hope IN THE BOX" coming out this year, exploring his first solo album.

  • Jimin is released his debut solo album.

  • Jungkook performed at the World Cup, debuting his new song "Dreamers."

  • V was involved in an upcoming reality television program, tvN's "Seojin’s."

  • And RM has set records with his solo album, "Indigo." He was the first Korean soloist to enter the Top 3 of the Billboard 200 album chart and the first Korean male soloist to have an album spend at least five weeks on the Billboard 200.
