Bryce Harper wears his regular glasses to bat after contact troubles
Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper struggled with something on Saturday morning that millions of people around the world struggle with every day.
Ahead of the Nationals first game in a double header against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday — which they lost 4-1 — Harper simply couldn’t get his contacts in.
Bryce Harper had trouble putting his contacts in today, hence the glasses in his first at-bat.

Harper, according to a 2011 Washington Post story, is “blind as a bat.” The team eye doctor once said to him, “I don’t know how you ever hit before. You have some of the worst eyes I’ve ever seen.”
Yet the game had to go on. So Harper wore some thick sunglasses that were likely prescription when playing out in the field. But when it was time for him to step up for his first at-bat against the Dodgers, Harper had to rock his thick, regular glasses.

Harper still couldn’t get his contacts in by the time his second at-bat rolled around, but decided to lose the glasses anyways.
Yet the lack of vision didn’t seem to phase him. He cranked out a RBI single while “blind as a bat,” tying the game.
Btw, Harper said he couldn’t get his contacts in for this AB either, but he also wasn’t wearing glasses…. So he was basically blind and got an RBI single https://t.co/QItAR4tqXf

And of course, the Internet loved seeing Harper playing in his glasses — and had plenty of jokes.
