Bryce Harper remains a first-round caliber talent

D.J. Short explains that Bryce Harper is quietly coming off one of his best years and is a value on draft day based on his current ADP.

D.J. SHORT: It feels like nobody talks about Bryce Harper anymore, but he's quietly coming off one of the best seasons of his career. The most promising development last year was a massive decrease in his strikeout rate as he checked in at 17.6% compared to 26.1% in 2019. Harper led the NL in walks and actually had more walks than strikeouts for the first time in his career.

Harper did that without giving up anything in terms of power. In fact, he was better than ever in terms of barrel percentage and hard hit percentage. Harper's stolen base totals have been up and down over the years.

But he reached double digits in 2018, and 2019, and would have gotten there last year if a full season had been played. He's a first round caliber talent, but his standing on draft boards doesn't necessarily reflect that. Harper has an average draft position of 19 in Yahoo leagues, so there's a value here.
