At 12:05 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department said that no structures had sustained significant damage. One firefighter suffered a minor injury, and a civilian was treated for moderate respiratory distress.

Firefighters evacuated about 200 homes near the area, to allow for aircraft to continue to drop water and retardant on the blaze. TV news images showed helicopters dropping water on the fire. Some homeowners were seen trying to fend off the flames with garden hoses, while others were seen fleeing the blaze as the fire crested the ridgeline.

The evacuation was ordered for the entire neighborhood between Charmel Lane on the west, Bienveneda Avenue on the east, Merivale Lane to the south, and the end of Lachman Lane to the north.

One house appeared to have damage to the roof, but as of 12 p.m., firefighters were making significant progress in extinguishing the flames and it was not expected to threaten more streets.

A plume of smoke could be seen across Los Angeles.

There was little wind, allowing firefighters to get a handle on the fire relatively quickly.

Air and ground units from both the LAFD and the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the blaze.

A number of high-profile names live or own property in the area, including Hilary Swank, Dan Aykroyd and Ryan Kavanaugh.

The Los Angeles area has been experiencing Santa Ana winds and warm temperatures, with the area expecting a high of 91 degrees Monday.
