Following a Twitter exchange yesterday (July 21) regarding a perceived VMA snub, Nicki Minaj is frustrated and Taylor Swift is miffed – but Bruno Mars is trying to make light of their heated (or just plain awkward?) Twitter back-and-forth.

The “Uptown Funk!” singer started tweeting taunts at fellow VMA video of the year nominee Ed Sheeran to parody the Swift/Minaj exchange that exploded Tuesday afternoon.

Nicki Minaj Puts MTV on Blast After VMA Snub

“Yo I want in on this twitter Beef!! VMAs is the new WWF!! @edsheeran F**k You!” Mars jokingly tweeted. “Show yourself!”

When Sheeran took the bait and tweeted back, “@BrunoMars any way we do dis you gon’ come up short,” Mars hit back with puns aplenty. “That Cut deep..U always know how to sheer me to the core. I can’t believe we’re Sheeran this in public. How dare u!”

Minaj, Swift Trade Barbs After VMA Snub

So far this means Beyonce, Mark Ronson and Kendrick Lamar (who is featured in Swift’s “Bad Blood” video and also nominated for his own “Alright” clip) are the only VMA video of the year nominees to not weigh in on this kerfuffle. Which, depending on who you ask, is either a misunderstanding, an important conversation about how society ignores female minorities, or a run-of-the-mill complaint dressed up as a serious issue.
