Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have postponed shows for the rest of the year as the Boss continues to recover “steadily” from peptic ulcer disease.

Bruce Springsteen Tour 2023

Rescheduled dates for each of the 2023 shows, including those postponed earlier this month, will be announced next week, according to a statement from Springsteen's rep. All the postponed show will take place at their originally scheduled venues.

“Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support,” said Springsteen, 74, in a statement on Wednesday, Sept. 27. “I'm on the mend and can't wait to see you all next year.”

Springsteen will continue treatment through the rest of the year on doctor's advice.

What is peptic ulcer disease?

Peptic ulcer disease is characterized by discontinuation in the inner lining of the gastrointestinal tract because of gastric acid secretion or pepsin, according to the National Library of Medicine. Those with it suffer pain after meals in a span 15 minutes to two or three hours after eating.

The prognosis of peptic ulcer disease is “excellent after the underlying cause is successfully treated,” according to the NLM.

Springsteen said he was postponing the rest of the band's September shows earlier in the month. The health news came during a tour that's been checkered with show postponements, including concerts March 9 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio; March 12 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut; and March 14 at the MVP Arena in Albany.

Springsteen and the E Street Band postponed shows on Aug. 16 and 18 at Citizens Bank Ballpark in Philadelphia due to the Boss “having been taken ill,” according to Springsteen's social media handles. The announcement came hours before the Aug. 16 show. Those shows have been rescheduled for Aug. 21 and 23, 2024.

Those unable to attend on the new rescheduled date and who purchased their tickets through official ticketing companies have 30 days to request a refund. All tickets for postponed performances will remain valid for the newly announced dates.

Springsteen has been making it around Freehold in recent days. He was spotted at Roberto's Freehold Grill with a smile earlier in the week.

“After a fantastic summer tour, the boss returns home to Roberto's Freehold Grill,” said the diner in a caption posted on Sept. 25. “It's always a pleasure having you dine in with us, and good luck with the remainder of the tour!!”
