Noting that he would “take some time to digest the news,” Chien thanked fans of The Brothers Sun “from the bottom of my heart for your love and support for the show.”

“Thank you for riding with us on this labor of love,” he also wrote. “Your love made all of our collective work, sacrifices, and heartache, worth it.”

Chien went on to thank “Netflix for giving our story a platform and giving me the opportunity to play a dream role” and acknowledge the series’ creators and crew “for giving their blood, sweat, and tears to make the best show possible.”

“TBS Family forever,” Chien said, thanking his cast-mates. “I gave everything I had to this show.”

In her message, reposted by Chien, Jue wrote, “I’m incredibly proud of the show we made. Thank you to the fans who love it as much as we do.”

Chien starred in The Brothers Sun alongside Michelle Yeoh, Sam Song Li, Joon Lee and Highdee Kuan.

Created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu, the series follows a Taipei gangster, Charles Sun (Chien), who’s settled into his life as a ruthless killer. But when his father is shot by a mysterious assassin, Charles must go to L.A. to protect his mother (Yeoh) and utterly unaware younger brother Bruce (Li).
