Demonstrators in New York City marched in solidarity with Jacob Blake on Monday night, August 24, a day after he was shot by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Video of Blake being shot several times in the back by police has caused uproar in Kenosha and elsewhere.
This video shows demonstrators heading onto Brooklyn Bridge. Hundreds had gathered in Times Square before marching through Washington Square, Foley Square, and eventually over the Brooklyn Bridge, reports said.
Protests in downtown Kenosha turned violent as windows were smashed and cars at a dealership were set on fire. The County of Kenosha’s sheriff announced an emergency curfew in response to the late-night protests.
Two of the officers involved in Blake’s shooting were put on administrative leave, while Blake was hospitalized in a serious condition. The Wisconsin Department of Justice was investigating the incident. Credit: Gerardo Pizarro via Storyful
