His parents are two of Britain’s most famous stars and he dates celebrities like Chloë Grace Moretz, but Brooklyn Beckham might be best known — at least around London — for making a good cup of joe.

While visiting the Late Late Show on Monday, David Beckham told host James Corden about making his oldest son pick up a weekend job to earn his own spending money.

“[Kids] want new sneakers, they want new soccer boots,” Beckham explained. “It came to the point where he turned 14, 14½, and I thought, ‘You know, if you want something, then go and work and you’ve got your own money.’

“So, much to his dismay, we packed him off to the French café and he works there every Saturday and Sunday for a few hours and gets his own pocket money.”

Do you think Brooklyn, 16, had to ask for time off to go to the Kids’ Choice Awards with his brothers on Sunday?

Beckham, 39, also talked about the time he spied on his oldest son’s first date. Brooklyn, who was 14 at the time, asked if he could take a girl to dinner on Valentine’s Day. Beckham gave the okay, but his wife Victoria was less ready to let go.

“She said, ‘Okay, make sure you take him and then make sure you sit in the restaurant. That’s the only way I’m going to let him go,’ ” Beckham joked. “So we took him to a small sushi restaurant, and he sat at the sushi bar and I sat about five tables back.”

The doting dad was quick to add that although 3½-year-old daughter Harper is still just a toddler, “when she gets to that age I will be closer than that!” Watch out, future suitors.

Posh and Becks have been focused on family from the beginning: They brought baby Harper to Victoria’s 2013 New York Fashion Week show, and David recently spoke about involving his kids (besides Brooklyn and Harper, there’s also sons Romeo, 12, and Cruz, 10) in his international charity work.
