Brooke Shields Shares Cute “Hannah Montana” Moment Between Miley Cyrus and Her Daughter (Exclusive)

Shields tells PEOPLE that her daughter Rowan caused a cute 'kerfuffle' after she saw her playing Cyrus' mom on the show

Brooke Shields is taking a walk down memory lane.

On Monday, May 20, the actress, 58, spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about a cute moment shared between her daughter Rowan and Miley Cyrus, 31, on the set of Hannah Montana in 2007.

“I think I was Miley Cyrus' mom. I think I was Hannah Montana's mom, sorry, not Miley, but Hannah!" she tells PEOPLE at The Chita Rivera Awards in New York City.

"Hannah was my baby girl. So, oh God, my daughter loved the show,” she adds. "We brought her to a taping and I failed to explain to her that when I called her (Cyrus) ‘baby girl’ she wasn't being replaced by this girl that she was on stage."

"It created a little bit of a kerfuffle, so to speak,” jokes Shields, who shares daughters Rowan — now 21 — and Grier Hammond, 18, with her husband Chris Henchy.

The Mother of the Bride star added that Cyrus helped calm the situation by assuring her real-life “baby girl” that everything was just make-believe.

“Miley invited my daughter down to the stage and said, ‘This is just pretend, thank you for letting me borrow your mama,’ ” Shields explains. “You know, it was really sweet.”

Shields' comments come after she revealed her fears of her younger daughter Grier becoming a model on the Stupid Things for Love podcast earlier this month.

"For me, the fear of her being a model was so acute that I fought it and I fought it," she said. "And then I got to this place where I thought...it's sort of undeniable, right? So then I thought, 'Okay, how can I service her but not repeat any of the dangers that I experienced or create any of the dangers?' "

She added that she then told her daughter she would have an agent so she could “be in a position to be with people who know better.”

Meanwhile, Shields also told PEOPLE that she wasn’t ready to be an empty nester as Grier gets ready for college.

"Not ready," she said. "I thought I would be relieved, but I don't know,” adding that she told Grier to give her a "grace period.”
