Brooke Shields joins The CW's Glamorous pilot with Eva Longoria directing
Brooke Shields and Eva Longoria have joined The CW’s potentially history-making Glamorous pilot.
Executive produced by Damon Wayans Jr., the series follows a gender non-conforming recent high school graduate who lands the gig of a lifetime interning at a cosmetics company whose products he panned on YouTube. Longoria will direct the pilot, and Shields will play Madolyn, the former supermodel-turned-founder and CEO of “one of the industry’s most respected and sophisticated cosmetics [companies],” according to the official character description. “A canny businesswoman and entrepreneur, Madolyn is at the top of the game and will stop at nothing to stay there, including making a strategic hire to be her eyes and ears within the company.”
Additionally, Jade Payton (iZombie) has been cast as Venetia, a “cool, smart,” savvy, and ambitious young clotheshorse who works as a Madolyn’s assistant. Per the description, Venetia is “deeply connected with Chicago’s queer community and nightlife, with her finger on the pulse of who and what is happening in the underground scene.”
If Glamorous gets picked up, it would probably be the first scripted U.S. show to have a gender non-conforming lead protagonist. The show is also executive produced and written by Jordon Nardino, and hails from CBS TV Studios.
Longoria’s other directing credits includes ABC’s Grand Hotel, which debuts June 17, and the forthcoming Universal film 24/7, starring Kerry Washington. Meanwhile, Shields most recently appeared on Jane the Virgin, The Middle, and Law & Order: SVU.
