Brooke McCarter Dies: ‘Lost Boys’ Star Was 52

Brooke McCarter, best known for his role in cult classic film The Lost Boys, died today from a genetic liver condition, his family announced. He was 52.

McCarter won a modeling contest at age 14 and went on to a successful career as a model before segueing to acting in the mid-1980s. One of his early roles came in TV revival of The Twilight Zone. That same year he starred as vampire Paul in The Lost Boys, which also starred Corey Haim, Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Corey Feldman, Dianne Wiest, Edward Herrmann, Alex Winter, Jamison Newlander and Barnard Hughes. His other credits include skateboarding film Thrashin’, along with Wired and Double Switch.

After a 20-year break he returned to acting in 2009 in The Uh-Oh Show and Emerging Past in 2011. He most recently had shot The Emerging Past Directors Cut which is in post-production.

His family released the following statement to ihorror.com:

“The McCarter family is heartbroken to share the news that Brooke McCarter passed away December 22, 2015 from the genetic liver condition alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AAT). He was 52. Brooke was our loving son, brother, father, cousin, nephew and friend. Funeral arrangements are still being finalized. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
