Bronny James Suffers Cardiac Arrest During USC Practice

NBA star LeBron James' son Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest during basketball practice at the University of Southern California on Monday morning.

The 18-year-old was rushed to the hospital, treated, and is now in stable condition.

According to one report, a James family spokesperson that Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest.

"Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. The medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in the ICU," the spokesperson said.

"We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update the media when there is more information. LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes."

Sources said that a 911 call was made at 9:26 a.m. on Monday from USC's Galen Center, the venue the team plays and practices. An ambulance took the teen to the hospital. The source also said that it was a Code 3, meaning the ambulance lights and sirens signified how serious the emergency was.

There has been no other information released on Bronny's condition at this time.

Bronny James Recently Committed To The USC Trojans

A few weeks ago, USC Hoops shared a post on Instagram announcing Bronny's arrival captioned, "@bronny has arrived 🏠✌️."

Many different campus departments, students, and professors welcomed the new student to campus.

When Bronny committed to USC, he shared the exciting news on his Instagram page simply captioned, "Fight On✌🏾#committed."

Nike Basketball commented, "GREATNESS NOW. GREATNESS AHEAD. 🤝" Fellow USC student Natalia Bryant, NBA legend Kobe Bryant's daughter, also welcomed Bronny to campus writing, "FTFO❣️✌🏽💫."

Basketball has been a focus in Bronny's life for much of his life if not all. He was named to the 46th McDonald's All-American Games during his senior year in high school and is expected to go to the NBA at some point. His father has spoken many times about the desire to play side-by-side with his son before he retires from the League.

According to USA Today, an ESPN mock draft done earlier this year projected Bronny as a top-10 pick in the 2024 NBA draft.

Bronny is a four-star recruit who averaged 13.8 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.8 steals in the regular season of his senior year, according to the Los Angeles Times' Luca Evans. His high school, Sierra Canyon, won the Mission League title in three of his four years on the team.

Before deciding on USC, Bronny had offers from multiple colleges. In addition to USC, Bronny was offered to play for Ohio State and Memphis.
