Jackie learns Sammy's being bullied.
Tim: Here's what I see, as a 60 y/o guy. I wasn't laid off or fired, but I haven't worked for 3 months because school was cancelled and I have to be home to take care of my 8 y/o and help her with the daily schoolwork she is given, now that she's not in school. No unemployment for me, because I'm not unemployed. I got $1,200 for me, and $500 for her, and that $1,700 replaced $7,500 of lost income for those 3 months. Did my property taxes get cut because the schools weren't doing what they'd normally do? No. I'm out $5,800 so far, and my child is behind on her learning so I'll be missing some work this summer trying to get her caught up. When school resumes in August, they won't be able to have all the kids at school so my daughter will probably be home 2-3 days per week then, too. I estimate that I will lose between $10 and $12-thousand this year, due to COVID. That is $10-12,000 I won't be spending, or I may spend it and ultimately end up in bankruptcy. How many thousands or millions of other parents are in the same boat? Mow many billions of $$$ of loss is that, to the 70%-consumer driven economy?
