Brockton party planner finds her calling with budding event biz and bubble tents

BROCKTON – Five years ago, in the basement of a Brockton home, Carlita Araujo unleashed her creativity and launched Touched By Lyric, an event planning and bubble tent rental business.

Araujo found her niche at 9 years old, helping her mother, an interior decorator, set up family parties.

In their Cape Verdean household, family parties are a way to celebrate each other with delicious food, laughter and good music.

Decorating for a function became second nature, Araujo said.

The young entrepreneur started doing small events for friends and family as a side business, and business began to boom through word of mouth.

As the volume of clients increased, Araujo started thinking about how she could take her event planning and turn it into a future six-figure business.

"I want to use my natural gifts to gain financial freedom, take care of my family and, hopefully, open my venue to host event spaces," Araujo said.

Araujo's creative interest does not stop at party planning. She is a DIY fanatic and enjoys crafty ideas to set her parties apart for clients.

"I always loved arts and crafts as a kid. It was my favorite thing. Right now, it plays a big part in my business. I try to handmake all my props to give my clients fresh new concepts," Araujo said.

Getting hands dirty with spraypaint and liquid metallic to create a centerpiece that will wow the guest is a party planner's specialty.

Touched By Lyric is versatile when it comes to realizing your vision for baby showers, wedding receptions, funeral receptions, gender reveals and more.

Araujo does everything while you sit back and relax.

"I want my clients to feel comfortable and stress-free while I take care of everything. Then, all they have to do is invite the guests," Araujo said.

The service includes planning the entire party, ordering items, hand-painting props, finding vendors, full set-up and takedown, balloon garlands, tables and a new hot commodity, bubble tent rental.

So far, Araujo has three new balloon bubble rentals that hold 15 guests, each perfect for a women's empowering brunch, birthday parties or any small intimate gathering.

Moving forward, Araujo hopes to inspire the next generation of female entrepreneurs by paving a road and showing them it's possible.

"I started this business in 2017 and never gave up on myself. I was afraid at first to put myself out, but once I did, the business expanded and I became booked every weekend," Araujo said.

"I used to think no one supports me, but you have to support yourself and keep posting your business, and things will pick up naturally the way it's supposed to," Araujo said.
