BROCKTON — Brockton’s Stefan Thev is set to take the stage alongside world-famous headliners like Ed Sheeran, Leon Bridges, Tyler Childers, The Killers and Hozier at Boston Calling this weekend.

Thev will perform on the third day of the annual, three-day outdoor music festival.

“I’ve always wanted to do Boston Calling,” Thev told the Enterprise. “It was on my bucket list of things I had to do in Boston before I left so when I got the offer last year, it was really exciting,” he said. "I'm excited to perform for people who haven't heard my music yet."

Who is Stefan Thev?

Stefan Thev is an alternative musician based in Log Angeles, but he is originally from Brockton. “I have a long history in Brockton,” he said.

Thev began making music in 2015 while he was a student at Brockton High School. “There was a place in Brockton called Sound Lab and a lot of my friends in high school used to hang out there and play songs,” Thev said. “It gave us the fuel to keep doing it and it’s been a passion ever since,” he said.

Last year, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue music full time.

What kind of music does he make?

Thev describes his music as alternative indie with some punk and pop ‘here and there’. “It’s really inspired by a lot of British bands in the 80’s and 90’s,” he said. “It’s a whole mosh-posh of things I really liked when I was growing up.”

His favorite song of his is called Don’t Smile at Me I Might Fall in Love. “It’s a love song but it sounds so destructive and chaotic. I really love the contrast between the two,” he said.

Fans can listen to Thev's music on his website.
