Brockton and Bridgewater-Raynham football will play Thanksgiving game at historic venue

This year's version will have some extra dirt on it, literally.

The Boxers and Trojans will play on Thanksgiving Eve at 6:30 p.m. at Fenway Park, infield and all, the Fenway Sports Management group announced in a press release on Thursday. That will be one of five high school football games hosted at the home of the Boston Red Sox.

More: Brockton High football survives against Bridgewater-Raynham to capture conference title

Since the Southeast Conference began playing football in the pandemic-rescheduled Fall II season in the spring of 2021, the final showdown between Brockton and Bridgewater-Raynham has been for the league title.

In their first conference meeting, the Boxers won the first SEC title with a 28-19 victory. That was the final game of B-R's Dan Buron's coaching career.

In last year's meeting, which was the first league game on Thanksgiving, Brockton won 21-20, denying the Trojans' late attempt at a go-ahead 2-point conversion.

Despite losing two in a row, the Trojans still hold an 8-4 edge in the series.
