Brock Lesnar’s daughter Mya is following in the footsteps of her famous father.

The professional wrestler, who’s been given the nickname “The Beast Incarnate” and “The Conqueror,” was just beginning his wrestling career when he became a father for the first time. Brock and his former fiancée Nicole McClain welcomed Mya in April 2002 — a moment which he says “changed his life” forever.

While Brock often made headlines for his life inside the ring, he made sure that Mya grew up outside of the spotlight. She spent her adolescence in a small town in Minnesota, and although her parents had separated, Brock moved nearby to make sure he was there to witness all of Mya’s milestones.

Over the past few years, Mya, now 21, has found her own place in the spotlight while forging her path as a collegiate athlete. Mya, who inherited her athleticism from her father, has quickly become a rising star in the world of track and field, specializing in indoor shot put. Not only has she broken school records as a Colorado State University athlete, but she’s worked her way up to being ranked No. 1 in the nation.

And though Mya has become a champion athlete, recently taking home top honors at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships, she says winning is not always the most important aspect of competition.

“It is not always about the outcome but enjoying the journey and memories that come with it. Would not be here without my family, teammates, and coaches,” Mya wrote on Instagram in 2023.

Brock and his former fiancée McClain welcomed their daughter Mya Lynn on April 10, 2002. At the time, Brock had just made his debut with the WWE, but he says it wasn’t his career that changed his life — it was the birth of his daughter.

“Right after my debut, and just as I started going on the road, this little baby came into my life and changed everything forever. I became a father on April 10, 2002,” Brock wrote in his memoir, Death Clutch: My Story of Determination, Domination, and Survival.

He continued, “No matter what I do for the rest of my life, I’ll always be Mya Lynn Lesnar’s father first and foremost. I love Mya very much, and I can tell you that from the day my daughter was born, I have been a blessed man because of her.”

While Brock’s relationship with McClain didn’t last, he went on to marry WWE Diva Rena “Sable” Lesnar in 2006. They’ve since welcomed two sons: Turk and Duke.

Mya grew up in Minnesota and considers the city of Alexandria to be her hometown. While Brock formerly lived in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area, he moved to Alexandria to be closer to Mya, who was already living there with family.

“I couldn’t wait to move here. I’m from a small town and I tell you what, everybody we have met has been very accommodating and welcomed us with open arms. We’re just really thankful for that,” he told the Detroit Lakes Tribune back in 2008. “[Mya] started first grade this year. We were all settled in the Twin Cities, but your kids only grow up once, and I want to be a bigger part of it.”

Mya went on to attend Alexandria High School, where she got a start on her track and field career, and graduated in 2020.

She’s a student at Colorado State University

After graduating from high school, Mya initially enrolled at Arizona State University, where she studied criminal justice while balancing her athletic career. In her ASU athlete profile, Mya shared that she was “overjoyed” the first time she got to put on her Sun Devils uniform. She spent two years at the university before ultimately transferring.

In November 2022, Mya announced she would be attending Colorado State University. On Instagram, she shared a photo in her new uniform, writing, “same s---, different state.” According to her CSU athlete bio, she decided to transfer because of Coach Brian Bedard.

She’s a highly accomplished track and field athlete

At just 21, Mya has become an incredibly accomplished track and field athlete. She has been competing since high school, specializing in shot put. During her high school career, she was a three-time Section 8AA champion in shot put, and in 2019 she was the Class AA state champion in the sport.

Since taking her athletic career to the collegiate level, she has been consistently recognized nationally. During the 2023-2024 season, she broke personal records, surpassed CSU records and took home a myriad of titles. During the Mountain West Conference in February, she took home first place, per CSU, and was ranked No. 6 in the world.

At the season’s conclusion in March 2024, Mya was named No. 1 in the country and the women’s Indoor NCAA shot put champion with a mark of 18.53 meters.

“National Champion 🥇#1 in the country and a season I will never forget. I persevered and fought until the end. I learned a lot about myself and trusted the process. Grateful for @throwing_smarter for trusting me and taking a chance. None of this would be possible without the support and love I received daily from my coaches, teammates, and family,” Mya wrote on Instagram, adding, “Proud to be a RAM.“

She wants to be in the military one day

While Mya is currently focused on her athletic pursuits, she shared in her ASU athlete profile that a little known fact about her is that she would like to join the military one day.

Although she didn’t specify what branch of the military she’d like to join, she says it’s her dream job.

Family is incredibly important to Mya, and she calls her dad the biggest influence on her athletic career. When asked about the most important thing her parents have taught her, Mya shared that it was “hard work and dedication,” per her ASU athlete profile.

Brock is also a big supporter of Mya’s athletic career and was recently spotted embracing his daughter at the Mountain West Conference in a moment captured by photographer Mark Rigney
