GREEN BAY - It’s official: Music lovers can look forward to three summers of free outdoor concerts at Leicht Memorial Park beginning next year.

Green Bay is among 15 cities nationwide announced Tuesday as new recipients of a $90,000 Levitt AMP Grant Award. The three-year matching grant of $30,000 per year will allow On Broadway Inc. to host a music series of 10 concerts each in 2023, 2024 and 2025 at the downtown park along the Fox River.

Awarded through the Levitt Foundation, the concert series grants are given to nonprofits to celebrate a city’s diversity and changing demographics, bring people together through music and inject new life into an underused public space.

On Broadway Inc.’s proposal put Green Bay in the running with 35 other communities with populations of 250,000 or less vying for the grants. Public voting narrowed the field to the top 20 finalists.

In addition to the 15 new grantees, 18 returning communities are also recipients of the $90,000 grants for 2023-2025, including Sheboygan and Stevens Point.

On Broadway Inc. received a $25,000 Levitt AMP Grant Award in 2019 and hosted 10 concerts at Leicht Memorial Park that included indie, soul, afro-funk, blues, Latin rock and hip-hop jazz from artists across the country. Green Bay is designated as a "new grantee" on Tuesday's list of recipients for the three-year grants.
